Valérie Legué

I received my PhD in Plant biology at the University of Paris 6 in 1994 in the G. Perbal’s group. My research was focused on the perception of gravity in roots.
During my post-doc (1994-1996), I spent few months in the S. Gilroy’s team where I studied the implication of calcium in the gravity perception.

From 1997 to 2013, I were as assistant-professor at Nancy University (Lorraine University) in the «Trees/Micro-organisms Interactions» laboratory ( My main research topic concerned the studies of auxin signalling in poplar root in response to the ectomycorrhizal fungus, Laccaria bicolor. I am also interested by the cellular mechanics involved in the adventitious root formation in poplar.

In 2013, I obtained a new position as Professor at The University of Clermont-Ferrand (Unversity Blaise Pascal) in the PIAF.

Research interests

Gravity sensing of roots

Root-soils interactions: Role of root cap in response to a change in soil impedance

Hormone signalling in root development

Advanced microscopy approaches: confocal microscopy, horizontal and rotated fluorescence microscopy, SPIM
