Frost, climate, vines, phenology

My work at the PIAF is part of the Opti-TAG project and aims to characterise, under controlled conditions, the effect of radiative frost and anti-frost towers on the resistance of vine buds. It is based on the study of thermal dynamics, ice formation mechanisms and associated damage, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of spring frost control systems.

My research is part of a broader field of study on the adaptation of viticultural systems to climate change. It combines the analysis of climate variability at different spatial and temporal scales, the estimation of impacts on vines and harvest quality, the study of winegrowers' adaptation strategies, and the assessment of associated greenhouse gas emissions.
